Courtney Jansen-Selby
Courtney Jansen-Selby teaches both youth and adult classes sponsored by Healdsburg Dance Collective. Courtney uses dance to connect with people on and off the stage. Her artistic focus is exploring humanity through the lens of traditional modern techniques infused with interpersonal connections between dancers. Courtney has been an UPside Dance Company member since 2022 and enjoys bringing dance into the community. She was a previous member of the Traveling Dance Company of the Santa Rosa Junior College, bringing dance to local schools. The experiences while in the Traveling Dance Company inspired her to pursue teaching classes to children. Courtney now teaches dance to children and adults with support from the Healdsburg Dance Collective.

The Creative Movement Classes will be an opportunity for children to experience structure, solo movement as well as collaborative movement. Classes are broken down by age so kids feel comfortable in their their peer group. Each class will start out with a warm up wiggle song, a stretching song, hops, skips, marches, etc. around the space. Moving together as a group helps kids understand a shared goal and spatial awareness. The class will also include improvisation, play with props and taking turns. Courtney’s goal is to keep it creative while providing a safe space for your child to explore movement in a class setting.
