Gianna Davy

A lifelong dancer and artist, Gianna has been blessed with many opportunities to witness the world from many angles. Raised in Oakland, CA, her professional career began on stage as a Bay Area ballerina where she learned that life does not have to follow a linear path, and that the simple act of playing will keep you forever connected to your most authentic and artistic self.  Her early-born passion for dance carried her through a 16-year professional career where she worked with many companies including Smuin Contemporary Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Robert Moses’ KIN, State Street Ballet, Company C Contemporary Ballet, and Upside Dance.

Teaching dance and movement has also been a huge passion for Gianna, and she has had the pleasure of sharing this joy with her students for almost 25 years. Gianna teaches to every age, level, and ability, and not always within the traditional limitations of studio, style, or student.

In addition to being a performer, a teacher, and student herself, Gianna is a freshly published author of a children’s book called No One Owns the Colors. She is the mother of two sweet boys, a maker of nature-inspired jewelry, and a wanderer and ponderer. In 2009 Gianna received a BA in Performing Arts and is now proudly almost complete with her MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders from NYU.
